United States · 1875/80 · Silk and cotton, pieced plain, twill and satin weaves; some with supplementary patterning warps or wefts; some self-patterned by main ground or complementary ground wefts; some with supplementary pile warps forming cut solid velvet, cut and uncut solid velvet, cut and uncut voided velvet, cut solid stamped velvet and 'velours au sabre'; some printed painted or warp painted (chiné); some (moiré); one appliqué with silk and cotton, plain weave with supplementary pile warps forming cut solid velvet; embroidered with silk in buttonhole, chain, detached chain, feather, double feather, herringbone, stem, straight and sheaf stitch variations; some stitches interlaced; French knots; lined with silk 7:1 satin weave self-patterned by areas of plain weave and ground weft floats
