About this work

Fragment containing an incomplete roundel enclosing a pair of confronted lions. The roundel has a dentate outer border, and an inner border which is a debased rendering of the Sassanian pearl motive, in which the pearls are squared off. Scaled outlines to all parts of the design. In dark blue, greenish-tan, cream, and at least one other shade of light tan on golden tan ground (all possibly faded).
