About this work

Landscape sketch showing a view of a vividly illuminated cloud at sunset above steep, lush hilltops in Jamaica. In the foreground at right, a hill descends to the left, visually overlapping another verdant ridge in the middle distance at left. In the distance at center, a monumental billowing cloud catches the vibrant red and pink light of the setting sun, which also casts warm hues on the surrounding clouds. Behind, the evening sky is shown as a gradient from deep blue, above, to yellow-green at the horizon. A possible fire scar is visible on the nearby hill at lower right.
