1700–1750 · Medium: linen Technique: deflected element work -Sheer plain weave fabric placed on top of a denser plain weave fabric with the warps and wefts of each aligned -Pattern outlined by a closely couched cord -Sections of the back layer of fabric cut away -Deflected element work (wrapping stitches using a needle which pulls warps and wefts of the foundation fabric out of alignment to produce openwork) in various patterns -Deflected element work on two layers of fabric for details -Edges finished with buttonhole stitch
