About this work

Embroidered sampler with Adam and Eve under a heavily fruited tree, crucifixion with dripping blood, and the pious pelican pecking her breast to feed her young. Spot motifs include a camel and a basket of flowers. Cartouche containing the initials ACL Anno 1790. Alphabet bands run along the top and bottom.
