Today, anyone with internet access can virtually walk through the Taj Mahal with the aid of tools like Google Maps. During the early 20th century, when England still ruled India, this landmark was less accessible to the rest of the world. People in other parts of the world had to rely on stories and images made by travelers who helped perpetuate a romantic vision of its beauty.
