Portrait of a Gentleman

About this work
Two studio portraits of this sitter were included in the album; the other one was acquired by the Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Switzerland. Neither photograph was captioned, and the sitter remains unidentified. He almost certainly commissioned these two portraits and may be the person who ordered and chose the images for the album. Its owner would not need to label their own likeness. However, many who create albums do just that to ensure they are known to future generations of viewers.
