About this work
Artistic trends and fashions circulated widely during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The embroidered floral borders and delicate trim on this woven linen textile resembles those made across the Ottoman Empire's territories in the eastern Mediterranean. At this time, Tunisia was ruled by the Husaynid dynasty, which was loosely affiliated with the Ottoman court.
