About this work
Böcklin's "Centauromachy" is clearly perceptible as a model for Donzé's painting. Another large-format work by him, taking up a subject from Greek mythology, is located in the art collection of the municipality of Riehen: "Abduction of the Sabine Women" (Raub der Sabinerinnen), 1910 (oil on canvas, 155 x 140 cm).
