About this work
Lukas Gebhart of Basel (1523–1593) held numerous high municipal offices throughout his life and finally served as mayor from 1591 to 1593 (see Samuel Schüpbach-Guggenbühl in: Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz, http://www.hls-dhs-dss.ch/textes/d/D19217.php).
