About this work
Unlike his namesake father, the younger Verbrugghen uses the Spanish form of the name in the signature. Although only 18 years old at the time, he must therefore be the creator of Inv. 1198; yet, according to the RKD image database (Artist No. 80114), he was already admitted to the painters' guild at the age of 13 in 1677.
