About this work
The waterfall is a popular motif in Robert Hubert's work. He painted several pictures on this subject. In some, he depicts the drawing or painting artist before the natural spectacle of cascading water. Already during his stay in Rome, pictures with waterfalls were created, often showing the cascades in Tivoli, such as the picture formerly with Picard Tajan, Paris (Auction Pavilion Gabriel, 17.6.1977, no. 40) or the painting "The Waterfall" from 1762 (P.
