About this work
The prince wears on a blue sash the eight-pointed red cross with a white eagle edged in gold of the Order of the White Eagle, founded in 1704 by Augustus the Strong, and can therefore be located in Saxony or Poland. As a painter, the Saxon court painter Louis de Silvestre the Younger would primarily come into consideration, in whose oeuvre Inv. 1320 would also fit stylistically.
