About this work
In a letter dated January 8, 1920, to the art dealer Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, Juan Gris reported on two paintings he was preparing for the Salon des Indépendants exhibition in Paris, likely referring to the painting "Guitar, Book and Newspaper" (Cooper/Kahnweiler 1956, p. 73).
