About this work

Behind the table, on which stands a Meissen vase with amaryllis and lilac, a bronze figure, a flower basket, and a vase with lily of the valley, is depicted Wilhelmine, Lovis Corinth's daughter (1909–2001). The painting was confiscated by the Nazis in 1937 as "degenerate" from the Nassauisches Landesmuseum Wiesbaden. In 1939, it came to the auction of Galerie Fischer in Lucerne, where it was purchased by the Öffentliche Kunstsammlung Basel.
