About this work
The four round "tissues" (Inv. 359, 360, 1579, and 1578) with scenes from the Parable of the Prodigal Son are presumably part of a larger series. This would also fit the stickers on the stretcher frames of Inv. 1579 and 1578 with an old numbering "X" and "XI". Renger 1970 conjectures, not entirely convincingly, a sequence of 12 images, which he reconstructed via drawings and later copies.
