About this work
This work comes from the collection of Dr. Charles F. Leuthardt. The dentist with an interest in art maintained active contacts with the Basel art scene, was friends with Wiemken and various artists of Group 33. He came across this work by chance while in Paris with his friends preparing for the exhibition "Fantastic Art of the 20th Century" (Kunsthalle Basel, 1952), when he saw it hanging on the walls of a dining room in a bistro at 16 Rue des Grands Augustins.
