About this work
From spring 1924 to summer 1926 – while he stayed mostly with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in Frauenkirch, but also in the Mendrisiotto – Scherer created more than 20 wood sculptures and over 100 woodcuts. In the sculptures, he engaged with Kirchner's plastic concept (processing tree trunks in 'taille directe') and used the same technique.
