According to a letter from H. Albert Steiger-Bay (image file for Inv. 765), Johann Nepomuk Wocher was a brother of Marquard Wocher and a captain in the service of the Imperial and Royal Austrian army, as well as a painter; source: a document in the estate files of Marquard Wocher at the State Archives.
