About this work
Otto Freundlich believed in the future vision of a just society, and his works express this. Here, the individual elements interlock like mosaic tiles and combine to form a lively yet stable whole. The Basel teacher Hedwig Muschg financially supported the penniless artist from her meager salary. She also tried to sell his paintings in Switzerland.
