About this work
Kopie nach dem Selbstbildnis in den Florentiner Uffizien (Inv. 1875), das der Maler auf seiner Italienreise während eines Aufenthaltes in Florenz malte und das 1726 in die Uffizien gelangte (vgl. Kunstschätze der Medici, Ausst.-Kat. Dresden 1987, S. 149 f., Nr. 78). Eine andere Fassung befand sich 1980 bei Christie's in London (Verst. 18.12.1980). Martin van Meytens war Hofmaler der Kaiserin Maria Theresia in Wien.
