About this work
The painting is part of a triptych that Wiemken submitted under the title "La suite" for the competition of the Basel Kunstkredit in 1932 for the staircase of the former Steinenschule next to the city theater, a girls' school (cf. illustration with all three pictures in Hanhart 1979, p. 294, and individually Nos. 787, 781, 788).
