About this work
Das Gemälde war zunächst betitelt als "Paysage dans le Canton d'Unterwald". Nach neueren topographischen Erkenntnissen befand sich der Standort des Malers jedoch zwischen den Gemeinden Altdorf und Flüelen im Kanton Uri und gewährt einen Blick auf die alpinen Gebirgszüge mit Gross Spitzen, Wängihorn, Burg, Platti und Hoch Fulen im Hintergrund.
