About this work
Comparable paintings with a cart and ladder include those in the National Gallery in Dublin (Inv. NGI. 900), from 1671, and in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam (Inv. 2368), from around 1666. In the distance, the church towers of Antwerp are visible.
