About this work
Der Dargestellte ist in der Literatur als Leonhard Respinger (1629–1791) überliefert. Nach der Promotion in Philosophie schlug er die theologische Laufbahn ein und war ab 1661 Pfarrer in Wintersingen (BL). 1659 vermählte er sich mit Ursula Rippel, deren Porträt ebenfalls im Besitz der Öffentlichen Kunstsammlung ist (Inv. 743).
