About this work
Buchser arbeitete von Mai bis September 1884 in Benitses, Korfu. In diesem Fischerdorf fesselten ihn besonders die Schwestern Diamantina und Aretusa Socchio, die seine wichtigsten Modelle wurden (vgl. Ausst.-Kat. Solothurn 1990, S. 251). Dieses Bild ist wohl ein Entwurf für "Diamantina", 1884, im Kunstmuseum Solothurn, Inv. B 19 (Abb. in Ausst.-Kat. Solothurn 1990, S. 250).
