About this work
Johann Jakob Frey reiste 1848 nach Südspanien, wo er die Landschaft Andalusiens und die maurischen Monumente in Granada und Córdoba studierte. So zeigt das Landschaftsgemälde im Hintergrund auch die Alhambra in Granada. Frey fertigte das Ölbild einige Jahre später, 1852, in seinem Atelier in Rom.
