About this work
Remigius Faesch (1595–1667) held various legal chairs at the University of Basel from 1628 until his death and served as rector three times. He also had an interest in building an extensive collection of books, coins, and works of art. The so-called Museum Faesch, which was famous far beyond Basel's borders during Faesch's lifetime, now forms one of the core holdings of the Public Art Collection.
