About this work

A snake winds around the crossbeam, dropping an apple from its mouth. In front lie a globe and a skeleton (with arrows in the left hand?), rising from the ground. To the left, a skull. At the left edge of the picture, the hill of Golgotha; in the background, the city skyline of Jerusalem. In the dark sky at the upper left, the sun with a face; at the lower right, moonlight breaking through a gap in the clouds. Presumably after a print-based model.
