About this work
A still life in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum (SK-C-610) can be compared to the Basel still life; although it was created in 1642, it features partly the same objects. There, too, Roman cups, footbaths, and tin plates appear, as well as a almost completely peeled lemon. The bowl with olives does not appear there, but occurs in other works by the painter. Despite the same objects, Heda creates new compositions again and again through new arrangements.
