About this work

In a sketchbook by Anton Winterlin, which the Art Society Basel donated to the Kunstmuseum Basel in 1927, there is a preliminary drawing for the painting. The lightly watercolored pencil drawing shows the same view of Interlaken, but without figures (Inv. 1927.445.39).
