About this work
Die mythologische Thematik der Satyrfamilie zeugt von Theophil Preiswerks künstlerischer Nähe zu Arnold Böcklin, den er in München zwischen 1871 und 1874 kennengelernt hatte. Der Basler Künstler folgte ihm 1874 nach Florenz, wo er bis 1876 in engem Austausch mit Böcklin stand.
