About this work
Von März 1850 bis Juni 1857 verbrachte Arnold Böcklin für seine künstlerische Entwicklung wichtige Jahre in Italien, vor allem in Rom. Durch diesen Aufenthalt beschäftigte sich Böcklin intensiv mit Landschaftsdarstellungen.
