About this work
Separated interior panel of the matching-format Annunciation panel in Nuremberg (GNM, Inv. Gm 878), a former exterior without gold ground. Presumably, both together formed the left wing of a triptych, from whose central panel the fragment of the so-called Olsberg Madonna (Inv. 870) was cut out. The subject of this central panel was likely the Holy Kinship. On the lost right wing, the Marriage of Mary on the inside and the Nativity of Christ on the outside would have sensibly completed the program.
