About this work
Very similar to a portrait pair of Johann Friedrich / Sibylla of Cleves in the Kisters collection, Kreuzlingen (exh. cat. Basel 1974/76, nos. 192, 193): There the male portrait is dated 1532, and the Elector wears embroidered "S" (= Sibylla) in the collar, while the collar of his wife is adorned with the motto "ALS IN EREN".
