Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — This overview shows Atlantis’ payload bay in the Orbiter Processing Facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. At left is the Remote Manipulator System, or Shuttle robotic arm. Technicians have been installing and checking the base of the Manipulator Positioning Mechanism (MPM) on the starboard side. The MPM will hold the 50-foot-long Orbiter Boom Sensor System (OBSS) that will attach to the Remote Manipulator System.
