Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — During Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) activities at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, STS-114 Mission Specialist Soichi Noguchi drives an M-113, an armored personnel carrier that is used for speedy departure from the launch pad in an emergency. Behind him at left is Capt. George Hoggard, who is astronaut rescue team leader. Noguchi is with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The TCDT is held at KSC prior to each Space Shuttle flight.
