Ride, 41-G mission specialist, gets a last look of Houston from the ground prior to departing the area in a T-38 jet aircraft to begin preparations in Florida for her 41-G space mission later in the week. Dr. Ride is in the rear station of a NASA T-38 at Ellington Air Base, near the Johnson Space Center.
