CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – An aerial view of Launch Complex 39 shows the south and west sides of the Vehicle Assembly Building. The curved roadway heading to the VAB leads to high bay 2, the Safe Haven facility constructed in 2000. Beyond it is the Orbiter Processing Facility, bays 1 and 2. The OPF bay 3 is farther still, closer to the VAB. Farther in the background are the waters of the Banana Creek in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
