Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — At the 195-foot level of the Fixed Service Structure on Launch Pad 39A, the STS-109 crew takes part in slidewire basket/emergency egress training. Pilot Duane Carey (right) practices releasing the slidewire basket while Commander Scott Altman (left) looks on. The training is part of Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test activities that include a simulated countdown at the pad. Columbia is scheduled to be launched Feb.
