Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — This closeup shows the Pegasus XL rocket with the High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (HESSI) attached at its top, on the right. The Pegasus will launch HESSI to explore the basic physics of particle acceleration and energy release in solar flares. The launch is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2002, from beneath the Orbital Sciences Corp.
