About this work
Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — With the Rotating Service Structure (left) rolled back from Space Shuttle Endeavour on Launch Pad 39A, the xenon lights are turned on. Endeavour rests on the Mobile Launcher Platform that straddles the flame trench below. The trench is 490 feet long, 58 feet wide and 40 feet high. Above the orange external tank behind Endeavour is the "beanie cap," or vent hood assembly at the end of the gaseous oxygen vent arm.
