Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — Supported by the overhead crane and maneuvered by several workers, a repaired Jacking, Equalization and Leveling (JEL) cylinder is lifted into position on Crawler Transporter No. 2. There are 16 cylinders and 32 bearings per crawler. During recent routine maintenance inspections, technicians removed two of the 16 JEL cylinders on the crawler to gain access to the bearings and found three of the four bearings cracked.
