Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — Two workers help maneuver a repaired Jacking, Equalization and Leveling (JEL) cylinder as it is lowered into place on Crawler Transporter No. 2. There are 16 cylinders and 32 bearings per crawler. During recent routine maintenance inspections, technicians removed two of the 16 JEL cylinders on the crawler to gain access to the bearings and found three of the four bearings cracked.
