About this work
Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility, an overhead crane is moved toward Mars Exploration Rover 2 (MER-2). The rover will be lifted and moved to the lander where it will be mated to the base petal. Set to launch in Spring 2003, the MER Mission consists of two identical rovers, landing at different regions of Mars, designed to cover roughly 110 yards each Martian day over various terrain.
