KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -In the Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 1 at NASA Kennedy Space Center, a crane is attached to the remote manipulator system boom in Atlantis’ payload bay. The boom is being removed from Atlantis and will be temporarily stored. The RMS includes the electromechanical arm that maneuvers a payload from the payload bay of the orbiter to its deployment position and then releases it.
