Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In the Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 1 at NASA Kennedy Space Center, the remote manipulator system boom that was removed from Atlantis’ payload bay is lifted out of the way. The boom will be temporarily stored. The RMS includes the electromechanical arm that maneuvers a payload from the payload bay of the orbiter to its deployment position and then releases it.
