About this work
Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — Shrouded with a protective cover, half of the payload fairing (far left) for the STEREO spacecraft is lifted up alongside the mobile service tower on Launch Pad 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. At right, on the other side of the tower, can be seen the Boeing Delta II rocket with its solid rocket boosters in place. The fairing will be moved into the clean room in the tower and later installed around the spacecraft for protection during launch.
