Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — The shuttle training aircraft (STA), with STS-116 Commander Mark Polansky in the pilot's seat, taxis to the runway of the Shuttle Landing Facility. Polansky will be practicing landing the orbiter. The STA is a Grumman American Aviation-built Gulf Stream II jet that was modified to simulate an orbiter's cockpit, motion and visual cues, and handling qualities.
