About this work

Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — A worker in the payload changeout room (PCR) on Launch Pad 39A monitors the payload ground-handling mechanism that is used to transfer the payload into the PCR and the shuttle's payload bay. The PCR is the enclosed, environmentally controlled portion of the rotating service structure that supports cargo delivery to the pad and subsequent vertical installation into the orbiter payload bay.
